Barack Obama's speech
In front of an estimated 84,000 people at Invesco Field tonight, Barack Obama said:
"As president, as president, I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power."
We were encouraged to hear Obama, now officially his party's nominee, commit to a platform that supports the funding of clean coal technology.
Now it's time to head to the Twin Cities for the Republican National Convention. We can't wait to see if they agree.

We can't wait to see if they agree.
It's a real cliffhanger, isn't it?

Today's coal is not clean - it's the dirtiest fuel known to man. Obama's nod to clean coal research is not a validation of building more coal plants without CCS technology. There are no US utilites building plants that capture CO2. No more plants should be built until CCS is included.

"No more plants should be built until CCS is included"
And no more non-hybrid cars should be sold, right?
Reducing global warming is important, but it must be balanced with economic feasibility and consideration for cost to consumers. Coal is inexpensive and must be part of any national energy plan. Because while elistist environmentalists might be able to afford the skyrocketing electric bills that will accompany the use of other energy sources, the majority of Americans cannot.
