Pennsylvanians for Clean Coal
This week, we talked with some clean coal fans at a John McCain rally in Harrisburg, PA. Here's what they had to say:
For weeks, we've been talking with people across the country about the benefits of clean coal. Visit Citizens for Clean Coal to watch more videos, and chime in on the conversation.

Clean coal is as much of a midirection as hydrogen fuel cell cars. There are no production-level clean coal power plants in operation (Test plants do not count,) just as there are no hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that are at production levels for sale. (Yes, Honda leases some, but you can't buy them and a few hundred cars is nothing compared to the millions of cars sold in the US every year.)
The construction of any traditional coal-fired power plants in the United States should be banned immediately, and a push for zero-emissions power production should be made, with minimum percentage levels defined at the federal level.
If coal can produce power with zero emissions of mercury, particulates, and C02, then let us build those plants, but no more traditional coal-fired plants!
Fortunately my home's electricity use does not contribute to coal usage, as 100% of my electricity is produced from solar and wind on-site.

I completely agree with Durandal. It turns my stomach to see the misinformation and propaganda of the "America's Power" lobbying campaign. Do you think these loosers would be running around the country promoting coal if they weren't on the America's Power payroll?

We have almost unlimited source of Sun energy. This energy can create global warming, if we allow spend money on clean coal, wind, solar cells, hydrogen cells, geothermal and many others expensive source of energy.
We need spend money on growing trees as the cheapest in the world wood energy.
Sun is the best source of energy to evaporate water from growing trees, and this process not only will cool the air of Earth but also produce the cheapest, really “green” source of energy, which can be used in any time during hundreds of years.

I just read about "clean coal" on wikipedia and it's just as I suspected... a farce. There is NO SUCH THING AS "CLEAN COAL!" It's a marketing gimmick!

I would like to know what planet Durandal is living on. I'm happy that he/she get's 100% of their power from solar & wind. However, I wonder if their utopian household is 100% emission free. Any garbage produced at that household (I guess they don't eat or buy anything)? Does he/she produce any CO2 when they exhale (shame on you)? What about CO2, particulate matter, or sulfur emissions to heat his/her house? What about the by-products and emissions to manufacture the solar cells or windmill blades you so gladly boast of? Every wonder how much energy is used to manufacture the fiberglass reinforcement strands in the blades? I wonder if they were made with any electricity or petrochemical products? Or, should I just assume you made them all with the sweat of your brow and tree bark? Get off your soapbox and join the real world my friend. People like you are a distraction to real world progress and the solution of any problem real or perceived (perceived in this case) as any issue has to be all or nothing in your mind. You definitely do not understand the economic impact of such an ignorant position statement. I assume being so self sufficient, you have your own currency and vegetarian food supply. I'm actually surprised you can post comments on a blog like this as I assume you do not own a computer (the manufacture of such a device would certainly contribute to the death of mother earth). Not to mention the copper wire that transmits the electronic signals produced by your keystrokes (you must somehow use carrier pigeons). Hopefully, you will never need the attention of medical personnel in you future as I'm not sure the advanced equipment they use will be powered by dedicated solar cells. I gotta tell you, I haven't lauged this hard in a long time. I only hope I see more from Durandal. You can't buy comedy like this!
