Clean Coal Stop: Colorado

The election may be winding down, but our street teams are still out in full force, spreading our commitment to clean coal.

Yesterday, the Colorado team visited the capitol where they visited the Colorado House of Representatives.

They also snapped a few photos at Gov. Sarah Palin's rally, where she and her husband Todd signed a few clean coal hats!

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but unfortunately, opinions won’t keep the lights on! We’re all for a debate—but it needs to be about the facts. In addition to providing half of our nation’s baseload power, here are the facts as we see them:

  • We’re going to need to rely on coal for the foreseeable future. Does anyone else have any non-partisan forecast that shows something to the contrary?

  • Generating electricity from coal is less expensive than other energy alternatives, a fact backed by U.S. Department of Energy data.

  • Technology has made it possible to produce more electricity from coal to meet our growing energy demand with fewer emissions of pollutants regulated by federal and state clean air laws. (This doesn’t include greenhouse gasses, but we’ll get to that in a second.)

  • Finally, we believe that by continuing to invest in technology, we can reduce emissions even further, include the capture and safe storage of CO2.

Do we need all of our domestic resources to meet America’s growing energy demand and secure our energy future? Absolutely. But at this point, we just can’t count coal out.

Coal is the power for FREEDOM!People on the left always attack U.S. economy. A strong U.S. economy means less dependence on government hand outs, more individual liberty!!!!! The left hates that.
