Let's keep working to make the cap-and-trade bill better
The news from Capitol Hill tonight is that a House committee passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES).
As Steve Miller, CEO and president of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, said: "We look forward to working with the members of the House of Representatives during the coming weeks to make additional, vital modifications to the ACES Act so that the legislation ultimately enacted by Congress and signed by the president produces environmental benefits, promotes economic prosperity and advancement of technology, and ensures greater energy independence."

I believe the Carbon emissions to be a bunch of hooey!
This is just so a certain people can make money and so the Democrats can suck even more money out of the working class. How large a carbon foot print does Pelosi, Al Gore, and Obama leave every time they get in a jet? But it is ok if they do it!
GM had a hydrogen car with NO carbon emissions, no need for electricity to build the hydrogen because a solar panel could do that on the owner's roof...He turned it down. Why? Because he would not make any $$$ off of it. He could not turn us into the Communist country of which he wants to be the dictator! Guess you can tell ..I have NOT drunk the kool aid!

Coal is not clean energy. According to a recent 60 minutes interview with a CEO of a leading coal company in U.S., the coal companies can produce clean coal, but have been very slow in implementing it and are opening up more of the same that harm and pollute our environment. Please think long-term about the interests of our health and environment, which we depend on, not just on short-term profits and gain. Please try to do the right thing, not just on what's most profitable. My children and your children are depending on it.

Why try to get along with Congress with this Cap and Trade nonsense?
This is cap and tax and it has no benefit to anyone. The taxpayer will only keep paying more money without any benefit.

Barb: Our members know that CO2 is going to become regulated in this country and are planning for that with technology investments right now. This will allow coal to remain a fuel for America’s future. With the right investments in technology, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make the science of climate change irrelevant.

Jeanette: With energy demand continuing to go up, we’re going to need all of our available domestic energy resources to help meet that demand. The people who say we’ve got to do something about the climate change issue also say they are opposed to increasing the budget for investments in clean coal technology. The industry has been at work to develop and deploy these technologies – a study just came out saying that coal companies have spent more than $90 billion on clean coal technologies. Finally, on the topic of funding, it’s important for private industry and the federal government to form a partnership to help bring these new, advanced energy technologies to the marketplace.
Also, alternative energy sources like solar and wind are not replacements for coal. There needs to be a mix. Read this commentary in CNN – it’s written by a professor of physics at Cambridge, and hopefully it’ll broaden your horizons a little more.
