ACCCE Applauds President Trump’s Executive Order Halting EPA’s Clean Power Plan

Washington, D.C. – The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) commends President Trump for signing an Executive Order today that will overturn the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan.

“ACCCE commends President Trump for withdrawing bad regulations that are hurting our economy. The Clean Power Plan is the poster child for regulations that are unnecessarily expensive and have no meaningful environmental benefit,” said Paul Bailey, President and CEO of ACCCE.  “We look forward to working with EPA Administrator Pruitt to develop sensible policies that protect the environment without shutting down more coal-fueled power plants, one of our most resilient and affordable sources of electricity.”

The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity is a partnership of industries involved in producing electricity from coal.  Coal, an abundant and affordable energy resource, provides one-third of our nation’s electricity.  By 2018, the coal-based power industry will have invested more than $126 billion to reduce emissions and to use this critical resource more cleanly and efficiently than ever before.

The coal fleet’s unique attributes are critical, but we all agree that a combination of energy sources are needed to ensure our shared goal of a reliable & resilient grid. Read more comments from ACCCE at #NARUCWinter18 here: http://bit.ly/2CwX2tY
