Steve Gates is ACCCE’s national communications director. He helps direct the industry’s national media campaigns and digital communications efforts. He’s also responsible for implementing and planning strategic outreach efforts, and has led the production of ACCCE’s Factuality Tour.
Steve has more than 15 years of communications experience. He’s been a press secretary on Capitol Hill and has directed media and outreach programs for international trade associations, the Fortune 200 and federal government programs. Some of those trade associations include the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Institute of Building Sciences and the Consumer Electronics Association. Steve served as national technology spokesperson for the wireless industry and has been instrumental in developing community relations policies for Federal Emergency Management Agency.
He’s a native of southwestern Pennsylvania and currently lives with his wife, a coal miner’s daughter, and three children in Omaha, Nebraska. Steve graduated with a B.S. in political science from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and an M.A. in public communications from American University in Washington, D.C.
